Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED debuts: Slim notebook with a Ryzen 7 6800U and 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory

Asus has launched the Zenbook S 13 OLED, calling it the “world’s lightest 13.3 inches 2.8K OLED convertible laptop.” Zenbook S 13 OLED carries the familiar Zenbook design with the hinge that lifts the keyboard deck for easy typing and improved airflow. The chassis is made of a Magnesium-Aluminum alloy and is MIL-STD 810H certified. Surprisingly, the notebook weighs only 1 KG (2.2 lbs). Complimenting the lightweight design, the Zenbook S 13 OLED is only 14.9 mm thick.

When it comes to input devices, the Zenbook S 13 OLED packs the new ErgoSense keyboard with a 19.05 mm key pitch and 1.4 mm of travel. The power button located in the function row doubles as a fingerprint scanner for secure log-in. Finally, Asus has outfitted the Zenbook S 13 OLED with a large trackpad with the ability to display a number pad for easier numerical input.

The biggest highlight of the Zenbook S 13 OLED is the 13.3 inches 2880 X 1800 (2.8K) OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio that can produce up to 550 nits of brightness. Asus is promising a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut. Zenbook S 13’s glossy display also boasts a 0.2 ms response time and is VESA Certified for Display HDR True Black 500. Depending upon the screen you choose, you either get a 720P or a 1080p webcam.

Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED is all AMD from the inside. The machine can be configured with either an 8-core Ryzen 7 6800U or a 6-core Ryzen 5 6600U with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. The GPU on show here is an integrated Radeon 680M.

The port situation on the Zenbook S 13 OLED is satisfactory. There are three USB Type-C ports with support for display output and power delivery and a 3.5 mm headphone/microphone combo jack.

Powering the internals is a 67 WH battery that Asus claims can keep the lights on for 19 hours. Moreover, Zenbook S 13 OLED can be charged with any standard USB-C charger and can be fast-charged to 60% in just 49 minutes.

Finally, the Asus Zenbook S 13 Flip OLED will be available in Ponder Blue, Aqua Celadon, Refined White, and Vestige Beige starting at €1,999 in Q3 2022.
