The ROG Phone 8 debuted at the start of the year for €1,099 (~$1,161) as a 12GB RAM/256GB internal storage entry-level model in Europe, and still starts at €999.99 on Amazon.de today (November 13, 2024).
Therefore, to say that is not the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered gaming smartphone around is an understatement. Its upcoming successor with that chipset's upgraded 8 Elite counterpart might be able to make it look almost reasonable by comparison, though.
The ROG Phone 9 has been listed by ComputerSalg, Denmark's "Online Mega Store", in advance of its release. Appearing under its AI2501 model number, its placeholder sales page indicates that it will sell for 9,838 of the country's krone (DKK) - equivalent to ~€1,319 or ~$1,394.
The smartphone's storage is boosted to 512GB - nevertheless, it also apparently has a generational price gap that works out to just over $230 (in one market, at least).
Furthermore, the ROG Phone 9 is projected to launch alongside an even more premium Pro variant with an active rear-facing AniMe dot-matrix display that literally augments the gaming that can be done with that device.
