ASUS has unveiled the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro, a particularly powerful pair of smartphones that integrate a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 flash storage and a 165 Hz display. Not only has ASUS confirmed all device specifications, but it has also revealed launch pricing for both models.

ASUS has announced the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro, a pair of flagship smartphones that have almost the same features save for their memory combinations. For example, both should deliver high-end performance thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and LPDDR5x RAM clocked at 8,533 MT/s. Additionally, ASUS includes UFS 4.0 flash storage and its GameCool 8 cooling solution, regardless of whether you choose the ROG Phone 8 or ROG Phone 8 Pro.

In a similar vein, the company's new clip-on fan, the AeroActive Cooler X, is said to reduce temperatures on the back of either device by up to 26 degrees with a 29% smaller design. Incidentally, both ROG Phone 8 handsets are IP68 certified, a feat not necessarily guaranteed for a gaming smartphone. Meanwhile, a 6.78-inch, 165 Hz and LTPO AMOLED display graces both models, which also achieves 2,500 nits peak brightness. Moreover, ASUS claims that the panel delivers a 720 Hz touch sampling rate and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Furthermore, the ROG Phone 8 is said to deliver 'pro-level' cameras, with a 32 MP selfie camera complemented by a 50 MP optically stabilised primary camera (1/1.56-inch), a 32 MP telephoto camera that provides 3x optical zoom (1/3-inch sensor) and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. For reference, the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 can shoot 8K videos at 24 FPS from their primary cameras but must drop to 4K to record at 60 FPS.

Also, while ASUS equips the ROG Phone 8 with an illuminated ROG logo, the ROG Phone 8 Pro contains 341 mini LEDs across its back panel that can display simple animations and symbols. Nonetheless, both models feature a 5,500 mAh battery that supports 65 W wired charging over USB Type-C. Separately, ASUS will ship both models with Android 14 pre-installed and guarantees four years of security updates.

The ASUS ROG Phone 8 starts at €1,099 in the Eurozone with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. By contrast, the ROG Phone 8 Pro is available with either 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for €1,199 or with 24 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage and an AeroActive Cooler X fan for €1,499.
