ONECOME has debuted the 6-pad FINTIN V1 handheld keyboard. This innovative Bluetooth device allows users to type blind through the use of easy-to-memorize sets of keypads that correspond to the regular QWERTY layout. This compact keyboard enables rapid text entry while wearing AR/VR/XR headsets.

ONECOME has launched an innovative Bluetooth handheld keyboard that allows users to type blind, the FINTIN V1. Unlike a traditional keyboard with many dozens of keys, the FINTIN uses far fewer buttons that are easily identified without looking. This allows any user to confidently type long text replies and documents without looking.

Bar and flip phones of days past all had physical keypads. Coupled with T9 text input software, phone users were able to text without ever looking at their keypads. Modern smartphones and other computing devices often rely on QWERTY keyboards with dozens of keys that are difficult to shrink to a compact handheld. On-screen keyboards are difficult to use for those typing blind. Additionally, speech to text conversion is limited to quieter locations and can be overheard.

The FINTIN V1 addresses these issues with a compact keyboard that maps the QWERTY keyboard layout to a group of 6 game controller-like pads. These pads are further divided into 4 “directional” buttons that let users pick which of the 6 assigned keys they would like to type. This allows the FINTIN to use big buttons for typing even though it doesn’t have a nano-display (like this keyboard at Amazon).

The Bluetooth 5.0 keyboard connects to computers, tablets, and smartphones for rapid typing even while wearing AR/VR/XR headsets. The FINTIN runs more than 60 hours, is water resistant, and weighs only 2.47 ounces (70 grams) for convenient lanyard carry around the neck or wrist. Haptic feedback provides positive input response while 11 front keys and 4 modifier keys let users enter keys like CTRL and activate voice control when they have privacy.

Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.

LAS VEGAS and SEOUL, South Korea, Jan. 2, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- ONECOM will unveil its award-winning FINTIN V1, a handheld mini-QWERTY communicator designed for the visually impaired, at CES 2024 beginning on January 9. The device earned the prestigious CES 2024 Best of Innovation award.

The first of its kind globally, the FINTIN V1 adopts Structured Mini QWERTY technology, enabling blind typing purely through tactile sensations. This eliminates the need for visual key identification in a compact, handheld format.

"With just six keys, this device can process up to 36 different keyboard inputs." The universal QWERTY layout and compact size make it easy for anyone to learn and use. It also has remarkable compatibility with most QWERTY-supported languages.

ONECOM plans to implement Structured Mini QWERTY technology beyond the FINTIN V1, extending it to handheld gaming controllers, XR devices, wearables like the Apple Watch, smart glasses, and smart TV remotes.

At CES 2024, ONECOM will also showcase the FINTIN XPANDER, integrating this technology into the PS5 DualSense controller. This is expected to revolutionize text communication within console gaming by moving beyond on-screen keyboards and voice chat.

The technology will also be adapted for Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC controllers, expanding its versatility. Compatible with DualSense-enabled PCs, iPhones, and iPads via Bluetooth, the Fintin Xpander will enhance mobile gaming with quick messaging and chat capabilities.

Through Fintin, ONECOM aims to make real-time communication accessible to all without barriers.
