In order to promote the capabilities of the iPhone XS camera Apple teamed up with Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke to make a film that was entirely shot on an iPhone XS. The result is the short film The Bucket, which was released today.

Apple‘s goal was to produce a film that was entirely shot on an iPhone XS. The production, which was codenamed Shot on iPhone XS, now has the title The Bucket and it was released today. Whether Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke really complied with the guidelines is open for discussion since the picture quality of the short film is really astounding.

Now, everyone can judge for themselves since the movie has been posted online and can be watched via YouTube. The storyline is, not surprisingly, about a bucket with mysterious contents. However, the plot is more about a man and his mother and the love of home.

The short movie was also produced in time for the Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, which is on February 5th this year. The film displays some beautiful panoramas and landscapes of China carefully combined with several street scenes. The movie is about 5:30 minutes long.
