Apple's upcoming flagship smartphone family, the iPhone 18 Pro, has reportedly entered early-stage production. While mass production is still quite far away, the current development seems to indicate that the final design of the iPhone 18 Pro family is now nearly set in stone.
iPhone 18 Pro: Fresh internals housed in a nearly unchanged chassis
According to the source, Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, the external design of the iPhone 18 Pro entering trial production is largely the same as the iPhone 17 Pro family, similar to what has been rumored several times in the past.
Recent and previous tidbits have indicated new colorways - including a red one - and a smaller Dynamic Island will be the only external changes gracing Apple's next Pro flagship.
Internally, however, the Apple iPhone 18 Pro is expected to pack a good number of updates, which is to be expected from an annual refresh.
The list includes but is not limited to a much-improved selfie camera, under-display FaceID, revamped rear camera setup with variable aperture, a stacked image sensor, up to a 5,200-mAh battery, and 2 nm A20 Pro SoCs.
The vanilla iPhone 18, which is not expected to arrive this year at all, has also entered trial production stages. Like the iPhone 18 Pro, the design of the standard iPhone will also remain largely the same as the current iPhone 17.
Other updates are also likely to be quite modest, with current rumors indicating a brighter screen, a better front camera, and of course, next-generation A20 SoC.
