Made in USA: Apple Mac mini to soon be assembled in the United States

In a recent press release, Apple has announced that a portion of Mac mini production will take place in the United States later this year. These units will serve the US market, whereas product lines will continue to operate in Asia for the broader global market.
The company has announced that a 20,000-square-foot "advanced production center" will commence operations later this year in Houston, Texas, and will also provide hands-on training in advanced production procedures. This follows Apple's $600 billion commitment made last August to increasing its footprint in USA through 2029, marking a major milestone along the way.
However, the Mac mini (currently $570 on Amazon) is by no means the first product to be assembled in the USA. The Mac Pro - both the 2013 and the 2019 models have long been assembled in the USA, with facilities located in Austin, Texas.

Some other Mac products from Apple's history, such as the Lisa, were also assembled in the United States. This is, of course, well before China became the manufacturing hub it is today.
That said, both the Mac Pro and Mac mini are incredibly niche products. The two Macs combined make up for less than 5% of Mac sales, which is to be expected since the company's MacBook offerings are vastly more popular, making up almost 90% of sales as of 2024. MacBooks being assembled in the US is not on any radar, at least for the time being.
Apple's upcoming budget MacBook, expected to be launched early next month, will also almost certainly be assembled in China.
