Apple has refreshed the entry-level iPad with new specs under the hood but the same exterior design as its predecessor. The new iPad (11th gen) or iPad 11, boasts a more powerful chipset, albeit the A-series and not the M-series that grace the more expensive iPad models. There's also more storage now on the base configuration.
The new iPad (11th generation) has practically the same design, dimensions, weight, and even comes in the same color options as the iPad (10th generation). Most of the specs are also the same, although the IPS screen is now 11'' and not 10.9''. However, the resolution and brightness are the same.
What's new with the iPad (11th generation) is the processor. Apple has replaced the A14 Bionic in the 2022 model with the Apple A16 with a 5-core CPU, a 4-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine. Another change is the storage configuration. Unlike the iPad 10 which launched in 64GB and 256GB storage options, the iPad 11 is available to buy in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants.
The new iPad keeps the 12MP rear camera and 12MP front-facing camera of its predecessor but now has Smart HDR 4. It also has Bluetooth 5.3, stereo speakers, and a smart connector. As expected, it is available in Wi-Fi and cellular variants, but drops the physical SIM slot (eSIM only), unlike the iPad 10 (curr. available on Amazon for $319.99) which has both eSIM support and a nano-SIM slot. It also has support for the Apple Pencil (1st generation).
The iPad 11 is available to preorder in blue, pink, yellow, and silver. Pricing starts at $349 for the base model with 128GB of storage, the same price as the 64GB iPad 10. The 256GB variant is priced at $449 while the 512GB variant is $649. Their cellular variants are priced at $499, $599, and $799 respectively. It will be available starting on the 12th of March.
