Apple Watch 13 said to finally get new design, but battery upgrade remains uncertain

Apple Watch is evolving at a much slower pace than the iPhone. Apple has used the same processor in the Apple Watch Series 6, 7, and 8, and the Series 9, 10, and 11 ($329 on Amazon) also use a chip that is technically identical. If Apple sticks to its typical schedule, the Apple Watch Series 12 could finally get a new, more powerful processor again.
Rumors suggest that the design of the Apple Watch will hardly change, but the Apple Watch Ultra 4 is expected to launch in September with a fundamentally redesigned look and sensor upgrades. The leaker Instant Digital now claims that the Apple Watch Series 13 will launch in 2027 with major changes. In doing so, the leaker references the rumors about the Apple Watch X that have been circulating since 2024. Earlier rumors have suggested that this Apple Watch will receive a complete redesign, including a magnetic quick-release strap system, which would render existing straps incompatible.
The leaker has not yet been able to provide further details on exactly what the new design of the Apple Watch Series 13 will look like. The Apple Watch most recently received a revamped design with the Series 10 in 2024, which was characterized primarily by narrower screen bezels and a case that was 1 millimeter thinner. However, the basic look of the Apple Watch has hardly changed since the launch of the first generation. It remains unclear whether Apple will also be able to address the Apple Watch’s biggest weakness on this occasion: its battery life of just one day.
