11 percent smaller, 11 percent lighter, and at least 17 percent faster graphics performance. The Aorus 15 is the long-awaited update to the aging Aorus X5 series albeit with a few auxiliary features missing.

The Aorus features decent components throughout, plus its ergonomically better than rivals, too. It’s far too loud, though, and suffers some build quality issues – as well as a screen with mediocre contrast. The Aorus has plenty of power, but if you’re looking for a brilliant all-rounder then this isn’t it.

The full-power RTX 2070 is the start of the show. It’s got enough power to play anything at 1080p, and enough ability to handle the 144Hz screen and Nvidia ray-tracing. It also opens a solid lead over the RTX 2070 Max-Q included in most rivals.

Our Aorus 15 X9 review demonstrates just how good the full-power, mobile RTX 2070 is – especially when compared to the Max-Q version used in the Razer and in numerous other machines. The RTX 2070 inside the Aorus is significantly quicker than the Razer’s GPU in all gaming benchmarks, which means it’s got enough power to today’s top-tier games – alongside ample grunt for high refresh-rate gaming and ray-tracing.

85.1% Aorus 15-W9 (i7-8750H, RTX 2060) Laptop Review | Notebookcheck
The Aorus 15-W9 is able to bring all the current computer games smoothly to the matte 15.6-inch display (144 Hz, FHD, IPS). The components are also suitable: an NVMe SSD, HDD, and 16 GB of working memory. But it is not free of weaknesses: the battery life is meager and there is no Thunderbolt 3.
80% Gigabyte Aorus 15 review: An awesome gaming laptop with one glaring weakness
Source: Good Gear Guide English
If you’re read many of our Gigabyte laptop reviews before: this next part should sound a little familiar. The Gigabyte Aorus 15 is a solid gaming laptop that ticks all the right boxes when it comes to specs and delivers as expected when it comes to performance. It’s held back by its loud fans and a lack of personality or flair - but if those things don’t bother you, then the math is probably gonna check out on this one.

75% Gigabyte Aorus 15 XA review: Roaring fast
Source: Hardware Zone English
The laptop has a few niggling issues that might turn away more picky buyers. Build quality is just average and the RGB backlighting is lacklustre. The fans are also ridiculously loud at max speed. Ultimately, the Aorus 15 is for someone who cares mainly about performance. Forget about portability and design be damned.

85.5% Gigabyte Aorus 15-SA (Core i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti, 144 Hz FHD) Laptop Review | Notebookcheck
The Gigabyte Aorus 15-SA handles all modern triple-A games with ease thanks to its Core i7-9750H processor, GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU and 16 GB RAM. Gigabyte complements this with a 512 GB NVMe SSD and a 15.6-inch 144 Hz IPS panel. However, the latter has low maximum brightness, while the 15-SA suffers from poor battery life and lacks ports like Thunderbolt 3.

What’s the right recipe for a great gaming laptop? It starts with a fast GPU and a solid CPU. Then you want a great display. These days that means a quality LCD panel, probably based on IPS technology, with a triple-digit refresh rate.

Aorus:

This company was founded as a subsidiary of Gigabyte in Tawain in 2014. The logo is a falcon head, since the name Aorus is derived from the ancient Egyptian falcon god Horus. Aorus primarily produces gaming laptops as well as computer accessories.

Since the market shares are still low, there are also few reviews. However, the products achieve relatively good ratings (as of 2016).

These graphics cards are able to play the latest and most demanding games in high resolutions and full detail settings with enabled Anti-Aliasing.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (Laptop): High-End laptop graphics card based on the TU106 chip with 2,304 shaders and 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM. Compared to the desktop variant, the GPU is clocked lower.NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Laptop): Mid range to high end laptop graphics card based on the Turing architecture with raytracing features and 1,920 shaders. Compared to the similar named desktop card it offers reduced clock rates. With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (Laptop): Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops based on the desktop GTX 1660 Ti and therefore the Turing architecture without raytracing and Tensor cores. The performance of the Max-P variant should be similar to an older GTX 1070.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

8750H: On Coffee Lake architecture based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates six processor cores clocked at 2.2 - 4.1 GHz (4 GHz with 4 cores, 3.9 GHz with 6 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++). 9750H: On Coffee Lake architecture based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates six processor cores clocked at 2.6 - 4.5 GHz (4 GHz with 6 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++).

2.127 kg:

Usually subnotebooks, ultrabooks and quite lightweight laptops with 12-16 inch display-diagonal weigh as much.

2.4 kg:

79.37%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.» Further information can be found in our Notebook Purchase Guide.
