11 percent smaller, 11 percent lighter, and at least 17 percent faster graphics performance. The Aorus 15 is the long-awaited update to the aging Aorus X5 series albeit with a few auxiliary features missing.

The Aorus features decent components throughout, plus its ergonomically better than rivals, too. It’s far too loud, though, and suffers some build quality issues – as well as a screen with mediocre contrast. The Aorus has plenty of power, but if you’re looking for a brilliant all-rounder then this isn’t it.

The full-power RTX 2070 is the start of the show. It’s got enough power to play anything at 1080p, and enough ability to handle the 144Hz screen and Nvidia ray-tracing. It also opens a solid lead over the RTX 2070 Max-Q included in most rivals.

Our Aorus 15 X9 review demonstrates just how good the full-power, mobile RTX 2070 is – especially when compared to the Max-Q version used in the Razer and in numerous other machines. The RTX 2070 inside the Aorus is significantly quicker than the Razer’s GPU in all gaming benchmarks, which means it’s got enough power to today’s top-tier games – alongside ample grunt for high refresh-rate gaming and ray-tracing.

The Aorus 15-W9 is able to bring all the current computer games smoothly to the matte 15.6-inch display (144 Hz, FHD, IPS). The components are also suitable: an NVMe SSD, HDD, and 16 GB of working memory. But it is not free of weaknesses: the battery life is meager and there is no Thunderbolt 3.

If you’re read many of our Gigabyte laptop reviews before: this next part should sound a little familiar. The Gigabyte Aorus 15 is a solid gaming laptop that ticks all the right boxes when it comes to specs and delivers as expected when it comes to performance. It’s held back by its loud fans and a lack of personality or flair - but if those things don’t bother you, then the math is probably gonna check out on this one.

The laptop has a few niggling issues that might turn away more picky buyers. Build quality is just average and the RGB backlighting is lacklustre. The fans are also ridiculously loud at max speed. Ultimately, the Aorus 15 is for someone who cares mainly about performance. Forget about portability and design be damned.

The Gigabyte Aorus 15-SA handles all modern triple-A games with ease thanks to its Core i7-9750H processor, GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU and 16 GB RAM. Gigabyte complements this with a 512 GB NVMe SSD and a 15.6-inch 144 Hz IPS panel. However, the latter has low maximum brightness, while the 15-SA suffers from poor battery life and lacks ports like Thunderbolt 3.

What’s the right recipe for a great gaming laptop? It starts with a fast GPU and a solid CPU. Then you want a great display. These days that means a quality LCD panel, probably based on IPS technology, with a triple-digit refresh rate.

The Gigabyte Aorus 15G is an expensive gaming laptop, featuring a powerful performance, high refresh rate and a mechanical keyboard to please the hardcore gaming crowd. On the flip side, the lack of 4K support means you’ll be stuck with a rather outdated resolution moving forward without a secondary display, but I personally found the excellent 240Hz display to be a worthwhile compromise in the end as someone with a love for high-performance over picture quality.

The Gigabyte AORUS 15G is a laptop that I believe represents the “Don’t judge a book by its cover” idiom. Its aesthetics feels industrial on the outside and inside and, if nothing else, looks simple. Once you get it going through its paces, though, its raw performance more than makes up for it.

The AORUS 15 XE4 is certainly a great performer, and could easily run any game thanks to its pairing of the high performance 12th Generation Intel Core processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU. Our review unit which comes with a 1440p display has also shown us how well it works out for doing professional work as well. Certainly, its minimal design and equipped performance levels allowed it to be an all-rounder for both work and play. Rather having a notebook computer that is focused solely for gaming, the AORUS 15 XE4 is more like an jack of all trades. Its lighter weight, slightly longer battery life and higher display resolution makes it more suitable for use under various use cases. Answering back our initial question – is the AORUS 15 XE4 a good gaming notebook for 2022? Certainly. However, we saw that it was in fact more capable than that, and would consider it suited for many other use cases as well. If you are considering a new high performance notebook computer for both work and play, do consider the AORUS 15 XE4.

Gigabyte AORUS 15 9KF is an interesting gaming laptop that combines very good performance and portability. The rather compact and stylish metal and matte plastic case is equipped with high-performance hardware that can handle modern games at maximum (or almost maximum) graphics settings without any problems. At the same time, the proprietary WINDFORCE Infinity cooling system cools it all well. Although it cannot be called quiet. The laptop has a nice IPS screen with a refresh rate of 360 Hz and is equipped with a good set of connectors. To which I would like to add a card reader for users working with video and photos. A configuration similar to the test model (but with a 144 Hz display) costs 50 999 UAH.
