Reviews for the Aorus 15 W9

85.1% Aorus 15-W9 (i7-8750H, RTX 2060) Laptop Review | Notebookcheck
The Aorus 15-W9 is able to bring all the current computer games smoothly to the matte 15.6-inch display (144 Hz, FHD, IPS). The components are also suitable: an NVMe SSD, HDD, and 16 GB of working memory. But it is not free of weaknesses: the battery life is meager and there is no Thunderbolt 3.
80% Gigabyte Aorus 15 review: An awesome gaming laptop with one glaring weakness
Source: Good Gear Guide English
If you’re read many of our Gigabyte laptop reviews before: this next part should sound a little familiar. The Gigabyte Aorus 15 is a solid gaming laptop that ticks all the right boxes when it comes to specs and delivers as expected when it comes to performance. It’s held back by its loud fans and a lack of personality or flair - but if those things don’t bother you, then the math is probably gonna check out on this one.

The Aorus 15 is well on the way to becoming one of the most competitive 15.6in gaming laptops out there, but falls short of the mark due to the strange omission of Nvidia Optimus technology.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Laptop): Mid range to high end laptop graphics card based on the Turing architecture with raytracing features and 1,920 shaders. Compared to the similar named desktop card it offers reduced clock rates. These graphics cards are able to play the latest and most demanding games in high resolutions and full detail settings with enabled Anti-Aliasing. » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
8750H: On Coffee Lake architecture based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates six processor cores clocked at 2.2 - 4.1 GHz (4 GHz with 4 cores, 3.9 GHz with 6 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++). » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
15.6":

15-16 inch is a standard display size for laptops and offers the biggest variety of products.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.214 kg:

Usually subnotebooks, ultrabooks and quite lightweight laptops with 12-16 inch display-diagonal weigh as much.

Aorus:

This company was founded as a subsidiary of Gigabyte in Tawain in 2014. The logo is a falcon head, since the name Aorus is derived from the ancient Egyptian falcon god Horus. Aorus primarily produces gaming laptops as well as computer accessories.

Since the market shares are still low, there are also few reviews. However, the products achieve relatively good ratings (as of 2016).

81.7%: This rating should be considered to be average. This is because the proportion of notebooks which have a higher rating is approximately equal to the proportion which have a lower rating.
» Further information can be found in our Notebook Purchase Guide.
