The launch of Anbernic's next retro gaming handheld appears to be right around the corner. Officially, Anbernic has not confirmed when the RG476H will be available nor how much it costs. However, Retro Dodo shared evidence last week that the device will start at $149.99 before rising to $164.99 after a 72-hour early bird phase.
Now, Anbernic has posted an official unboxing video for the same device, which we have embedded below. Typically, the company only publishes these kind of videos a few days before releasing a device. For example, Anbernic shared an equivalent video of the RG35XX Pro three days prior its full launch (curr. $64.99 on Amazon).
As a result, we suspect that the RG476H will be available to pre-order before the end of the week. In the meantime, Russ from Retro Game Corps has posted an RG476H first impressions video to give retro handheld fans a taste of what to expect from Anbernic's latest offering.
On the one hand, the RG476H is said to contain decent controls with a comfortable overall form factor and a high-end display. On the other hand, Anbernic's joystick placement leaves something to be desired. Moreover, the choice to include a full glass front makes the RG476H prone to picking up fingerprints. Unfortunately, Gamecube and PlayStation 2 emulation performance trails rival handhelds at this point, too.
