About a week has passed since Ayaneo revealed any new substantive details about its next Android gaming handheld. In that time, the company has extended early bird pricing for its first Konkr sub-brand releases. Meanwhile, Anbernic is preparing to launch the RG476H, which will be available to order later this week.
Previously, Ayaneo had indicated that the Pocket AIR Mini would retail for less than CNY 999 (~$141) in its home market. Shortly afterwards, rumours emerged that Anbernic had dropped the price of the RG476H with which the Pocket AIR Mini appears to be in direct competition. While we now know the global release of the RG476H, Ayaneo has not been forthcoming about when the Pocket AIR Mini will be available.
Nonetheless, the company now reports that the Pocket AIR Mini will start for significantly less than it suggested earlier this month. Posting on Chinese social media, Ayaneo has confirmed that the Pocket AIR Mini will cost less than CNY 799 (~$112) at launch, which would undercut the Anbernic RG476H by a wide margin. Unfortunately, the company is still leaving fans in the dark about how much its 4.2-inch gaming handheld will cost globally. Likewise, it remains to be seen whether the Pocket AIR Mini will be powerful than the Pocket Micro or Pocket Micro Classic (curr. $249 on Amazon), which are currently the company's entry-level Android gaming handhelds.
