The GPD Win 5 has been a long time coming. While the company announced its latest gaming handheld in July, the GPD Win 5 first surfaced a month earlier with a design resembling that of the Win 4. For context, the company refreshed the Win 4 last December with AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU and other ancillary improvements (curr. $1,458 on Amazon).
Earlier this week, GPD indicated that the Win 5 would debut in China for CNY 8,699 (~$1,225) with a Ryzen AI Max 385 APU, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Now, the company has clarified how much the Win 5 will cost globally and the SKUs in which it will be available. In short, the GPD Win 5 will be significantly more expensive globally than in China.
As the image below shows, GPD's next gaming handheld will start at approximately $1,448 with the same Ryzen AI Max 385 APU, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Meanwhile, GPD will charge a minimum of $1,650 for gamers who want to get their hands on more powerful Ryzen AI Max+ 395 variants. On top of that, GPD's dock, an extra external battery and a Biwin 1517 Mini SSD will cost $93 apiece.
The GPD Win 5 will be available to back on Indiegogo from September 25. At the time of writing, the company hopes to begin shipping units to Indiegogo backers in November or December 2025. For reference, all Win 5 units will ship with an external battery, a power supply and an extended power cable.
