Dell now lets users configure its flagship Alienware Area-51 desktop with Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs. Previously, it was limited to just Intel Arrow Lake SKUs.

Dell bought back its iconic Alienware Area-51 desktops and laptops earlier this year at CES 2025. At the time, it was only available with Intel's Core Ultra 200 Arrow Lake desktop processors, with no word about any AMD models. Now, the machine can be specced out with the best gaming chips AMD has to offer, complete with 3D V-cache.

New CPU choices include the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D, with the Ryzen 9 9900X3D. GPU choices are somewhat limited, with the 9800X3D SKU restricted to the GeForce RTX 5080, and the 9950X3D to the RTX 5090. For now, the former offers only 2 TB of storage and the latter 4TB, but Dell states additional configurations, such as 12 TB of storage, will be available later.

The Alienware Area-51 with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5080 will start at $4349.99, while the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and RTX 5090 will set you back by $6149.99. These prices are exorbitant, but that has always been the case with Alienware desktops. On the plus side, the new Area-51 now comes with off-the-shelf parts and not proprietary ones that can't be salvaged. With sky-high memory prices, it will soon make sense to buy a pre-built PC instead of building one from scratch.
