The LattePanda Iota is a tiny single-board computer packing an Intel Twin Lake processor. Available in various configurations, the tiny device packs enough power to serve as a 720p emulation machine based on early reviews.

The Iota is the latest in a long line of single-board computers produced by LattePanda. Released in September, the Iota arrived over a year after the Mu (curr. $199 on Amazon), which featured the entry-level Processor N100 from Intel's Alder Lake N series.

By contrast, LattePanda furnishes the Iota with the newer Processor N150 that Intel markets under its Twin Lake family. In real terms, the Processor N100 and Processor N150 are almost identical according to our benchmarks. Nonetheless, early reviews show that the Iota performs well in a use case that LattePanda may not have envisioned: gaming.

As it stands, the Iota can run plenty of older but still popular titles like Left for Dead II at 720p while achieving 60 FPS. The same cannot be said for Doom 2016 though, with the Vulkan back-end enabled. Although the Iota does run the game at 720p, Interfacing Linux demonstrates that the 88 x 70 mm device falls short of even 30 FPS at the lowest graphics settings.

Still, the Iota is suitable for more lightweight gaming like Hollow Knight: Silksong and plenty of emulation too. According to ETA Prime, LattePanda's latest device emulates most Dreamcast and PlayStation Portable classics well. Likewise, the YouTuber claims to have had plenty of success at running many but not all GameCube and PlayStation 2 titles. Currently, the Iota can be picked up for just over $165 with 8 GB of RAM or $215 when opting for a 16 GB RAM variant that includes a heatsink.
