Windswept is a new platformer that launched on Steam on November 11. Since its release, it has received around 180 reviews, 96% of which are positive. The game has also generated impressive earnings, prompting the developer to thank the community for its support.

With Windswept, developer WeatherFell seems to have struck a chord with players. This platforming adventure lets you jump through charmingly crafted 2D levels as either Dame the duck or Murmel the turtle. You can choose your character and switch between them during gameplay to make use of their unique abilities. Visually and mechanically, Windswept resembles classic platformers like Super Mario, and many players have compared its style to Donkey Kong Country.

Released on November 11, Windswept is priced at around $19, but is currently available for about $17 thanks to a 15% launch discount. With more than 180 reviews and a 96% positive rating, the game is clearly a success for its solo developer. It also seems to have paid off financially – something he’s openly celebrating with the community on X.

In his post, the developer shares a heartfelt message: within just one week, Windswept’s sales have covered the cost of his wedding, repairs for a bathroom that flooded in October 2024, a new dryer, and even future allergy medication for “Nugget” – presumably his furry companion. He writes, “This is the impact you have had on my life. From the bottom of my heart – thank you so much!” The post has been met with an outpouring of congratulations and praise, not only for the game’s success but also for his emotional honesty. Windswept is also listed as "Playable" on the Steam Deck (which currently sells for around $460 on Amazon).
