It appears Alienware might be planning on unleashing a 500 Hz-capable gaming monitor onto the market soon, presuming a recent leak is accurate. The details have been provided by a tipster on Twitter called chi11eddog, who has numerous tech-related leaks and rumors in their feed but is not particularly well known. However, as always with this kind of leak, best to keep a healthy dose of skepticism until the company involved confirms or denies the information.
According to the relevant post, the likely 25-inch 500 Hz Alienware gaming monitor has the model number AW2524H and will sport a “fast IPS” panel. Somewhat controversially, the monitor supposedly has a resolution of 1920x1080, which has bemused some of the people who have commented on the leaker's post. The Alienware AW2523HF, a 360-Hz capable monitor, also relies on this 1080p standard.
However, clearly the star of the specifications show will be the ability to reach up to a 500 Hz refresh rate with this Alienware monitor, which apparently will be an available rate with some overclocking and DisplayPort utilization involved. The alleged native rate for the device is still an impressive 480 Hz with DisplayPort use. No further details are offered in the AW2524H-related leak apart from “CES 2023”, which means we should see more of the Alienware 500 Hz gaming monitor soon.
