Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Chinese pre-orders indicate eye-watering prices up to US$1,204 for partner cards

Nvidia recently "unlaunched" the RTX 4080 12 GB, but we have been hearing reports that the company might eventually reintroduce the card as an RTX 4070 Ti. Nvidia, on its part, hasn't yet officially confirmed the existence of an RTX 4070 Ti, but the cards are apparently already in testers' hands and shops have received stocks from add-in board (AiB) partners.

E-tailer platforms in China such as JD and Taobao have started taking pre-orders for these cards. The listed prices seem to range from ¥7,199 (US$1,032) and go up to ¥8,399 (US$1,204). It is worth recalling that Nvidia originally announced the RTX 4080 12 GB at a US$899 MSRP. In China, the same card was officially listed at ¥7,199 back then.

This strongly indicates that Nvidia will likely launch the purported RTX 4070 Ti at the same US$899 official pricing. For perspective, the RTX 3070 Ti arrived last year at a US$599 MSRP for the Founders Edition.

The converted USD prices seem way too high for a xx70 series graphics card, but this is to be expected since these are custom models and taxes in Asian markets are often add up substantially.

Nvidia's initial Ada Lovelace launch included the RTX 4090 (US$1,599 MSRP), RTX 4080 16 GB (US$1,199 MSRP), and RTX 4080 12 GB. Consternation among the gaming community and the press alike led to the company scrapping the RTX 4080 12 GB, but there has been talk of the card being resurrected in one way or the other since then.

The RTX 4070 Ti is expected to sport the same configuration as that of the recalled RTX 4080 12 GB, which includes an AD104 die with 7,680 CUDA cores and 192-bit 12 GB GDDR6X memory. The original RTX 4080 12 GB was rated at a 285 W TGP with a boost clock of 2,610 MHz, though it remains to be seen whether the purported RTX 4070 Ti will carry forward these numbers.

Nvidia is expected to officially confirm the RTX 4070 Ti along with other RTX 40 Laptop GPUs at CES 2023 during the company's keynote on January 3.
