Seemingly final RTX 4070 Ti release date leaks: Nvidia could launch the supposedly rebranded RTX 4080 12 GB on January 5
It has been a tumultuous few months for Nvidia. The company unveiled the RTX 4090 and two RTX 4080 SKUs in October before suddenly canceling the RTX 4080 12 GB following widespread criticism regarding the GPU's performance and price. To make matters worse for Team Green, AMD announced the RDNA 3-based RX 7900 XT and the RX 7900 XTX for US$899 and US$999 respectively promising the latter will deliver RTX 4080-rivaling performance for US$200 less.
It looks like Nvidia may be bracing for a tough fight against AMD. In addition to supposedly reducing RTX 4080 16 GB prices that we reported on earlier, the company could be gearing up to launch the scraped RTX 4080 12 GB as the RTX 4070 Ti soon. According to a product page on Italian retailer Drako.it, an ASUS TUF RTX 4070 Ti appears to be launching on January 5, 2023. The page has since been removed but not before Wccftech managed to grab a screenshot displaying a timer for 31 days from December 5 which comes out to be January 5.
RTX 4080 12 GB possibly launching as the RTX 4070 Ti is not surprising, since multiple sources have shared rumors about the rebrand. Even the specifications of the doomed RTX 4080 12 GB have sparked speculation that could it have originally been an RTX xx70 class card.
Furthermore, Wccftech expects Nvidia to announce the card on January 3, lift the review embargo on January 4, and put the board for sale one day later. Although chances are quite high that Nvidia will decrease the price of the RTX 4070 Ti from US$899 for the RTX 4080 12 GB, we don’t have any concrete information regarding the final rate.
