Akasa Newton N16: Fanless mini PC case launched with wall-mounting support

Akasa has introduced a new enclosure for the ASUS NUC 16 Pro mini PC, dubbed the Newton N16. This should be great news for owners of the system who dislike the noise caused by active cooling, with Akasa having opted for a passively cooled solution with up to 28 W of heat dissipation.

But of course, the package comes with a major disadvantage -  as stated, the enclosure can only dissipate 28 W, whereas Intel's Panther Lake chips that are found in the NUC 16 Pro (currently $2,799 on Amazon) come with either 45 W or 65 W TDPs. 

Clearly, this will lead to a notable performance downgrade that fanless enthusiasts will have to digest.

The case measures in at 188.6 x 204 x 53.6 mm, or roughly 7.43 x 8 x 2.11 inches, indicating a volume of roughly 2.1 L. Apart from the CPU, dedicated aluminum heatsinks are also present for dual M.2 drives. 

Needless to say, the fanless case does not alter any specifications of the NUC 16 Pro's actual hardware. Therefore, the system will continue being powered by up to a 16-core Core Ultra X7 358H APU with the powerful Arc B390 GPU, paired with up to 128 GB of RAM courtesy of dual DDR5-7200 SO-DIMMs.

The Akasa fanless case will also include VESA mounting support. A bunch of mounting accessories would also be sold, including a wall mount and a rack mount. Pricing and availability details are under wraps for now.
