Asus launches compact fanless NUC with 2.5 GbE and triple 4K display support

Asus has introduced a fanless version of the NUC 14 Essential, pairing Intel’s low-power N-series processors with a completely passive cooling system. The new Asus NUC 14 Essential Fanless is aimed primarily at business, retail, education and edge-computing deployments where low maintenance and silent operation are key.
Specs-wise, it is largely identical to the Asus NUC 14 Essential launched in 2025. Processor options include the Alder Lake-based Intel N150 and N250. Both chips have a 6 W TDP, making them ideal candidates for passive cooling. The machine comes with a sizeable metal heatsink, is rated for continuous 24/7 operation, and has undergone MIL-STD-810H testing.
The Asus NUC 14 Essential Fanless supports up to 32 GB of DDR5-4800 memory through a SO-DIMM slot. Storage comes via an M.2 2280 slot supporting PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSDs and a secondary M.2 2242 SATA slot. ASUS will offer both barebones kits and complete Mini PC configurations, with the latter including 8 GB of memory and a 128 GB SSD on at least some SKUs.
For connectivity, you get two USB-C ports, four USB-A ports in total, 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4. One USB-C port can also carry a DisplayPort 1.4 signal. Together, the outputs let the NUC 14 Essential Fanless drive up to three 4K displays simultaneously. It also includes Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
The system measures 135 x 115 x 45 mm without its rubber feet and occupies just 0.74 litres. The barebones kit weighs around 640 g, while ASUS lists a substantially heavier 1.19 kg for the complete Mini PC. A VESA mounting bracket is included, allowing the system to be tucked behind a monitor.
Asus has not yet announced pricing or detailed regional availability for the NUC 14 Essential Fanless. The company does, however, list support for Windows 11, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
