The Acer Swift 3 SF314-41 is a stylish and slim 14-inch subnotebook that has plenty going for it. Essentially, the device is a turbo-charged version of the Swift 3 SF314-54, which we reviewed in September. While Acer equips the latter with an entry-level Intel Pentium Gold 4417U, the SF314-41 features the substantially more powerful AMD Ryzen 5 3500U.
Not only does the APU offer good CPU performance, but it also incorporates a powerful GPU. The Radeon RX Vega 8 will handle older games like BioShock Infinite and Diablo III with ease, while it is even capable of playing newer titles like GRID 2019. Moreover, our review unit remained cool and quiet even during our stress tests, which push devices to their limits. Overall, the SF314-41 is powerful enough for all office and internet-based applications.
However, two issues mar what is otherwise a solid subnotebook. The more minor of the two is the USB Type-C port that Acer has included. We would have expected it to support at least USB Power Delivery, so that the device could charge using a universal power supply. Sadly, that is not the case, nor does the Type-C port support DisplayPort either. Worse still, the display that Acer has included is woefully dim, something that we cannot excuse.
Please see our Acer Swift 3 SF314-41 review for our full thoughts about the device.
