Acer has introduced the SP514-51N, an updated Spin 5 powered by Intel Alder Lake processors. The Spin 5 will be available with a 2.5K display, Thunderbolt 4 ports and will start at US$1,349.99 when it launches in July.
Acer has showcased the new Spin 5, which now carries the model number SP514-51N. According to Acer, the new Spin 5 weighs 1.3 kg, is 16.9 mm thick and relies on a 14-inch convertible display. Acer adds that the display has a 16:10 aspect ratio, outputs at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and offers an 88% screen-to-body ratio.
Unsurprisingly, Acer has upgraded the Spin 5 to Intel Alder Lake processors. While Acer mentions that a Core i7 part will be available, it is unclear what processors will be available. Moreover, Acer mentions that the new Spin 5 will come with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, plus a Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675i modem. As Acer's marketing images show, the machine also has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, along with a full-sized HDMI port, two USB Type-A ports and a microSD card reader.
According to Acer, the Spin 5 (SP514-51N) will launch in July, seemingly alongside the Swift 3 OLED (SF314-71). While the latter starts at €999, the Spin 5 will cost at least €1,399 in the Eurozone. By contrast, the Spin 5 will launch for US$1,349.99 in the US, also in July.
