Acer has launched a new high-end gaming desktop alongside numerous laptops, Chromebooks and monitors. The Acer Predator Orion X features a unique design with three "Zones", each earmarked for specific functions. Zone 1 occupies the bulk of the chassis and houses the CPU, memory and NVMe SSDs. Zone 2 houses the graphics card and additional storage slots. Lastly, Zone 3 focuses on cooling.
One can configure the Acer Predator Orion X with an Intel Core i9-13900KS (K, non-K and KF versions also included) and a Core i7-13700K (K/KF/non-K). Those looking for cheaper options can opt for the Core i5-13400. The Core i5-13600K's exclusion is odd, given its stature as an excellent mid-range gaming processor. Unfortunately, AMD options do not exist for now and might not be for the foreseeable future.
Graphics card choices on the Acer Predator Orion X include an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, GeForce RTX 4080, and GeForce RTX 4090. Once again, there seem to be no AMD SKUs in sight. One gets up to 64 GB of DDR5 5600 MT/s RAM and a 2 TB M.2 SSD. A hot-swappable NVMe SSD slot allows for additional storage, as do the aforementioned 2.5-inch drive slots.
Other Acer Predator Orion X features include Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5G Ethernet. For front I/O, there is one Gen1 Type-C port, one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port and a combo 3.5 mm audio jack. At the back is one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and one RJ45 Ethernet jack.
The Acer Predator Orion X goes on sale in September 2023, starting at €2,499 (US$2,742). Acer will also let users purchase the case separately at a later date.
