The Acer Predator Helios 18 AI is a beefy brute of a gaming laptop that’s one of the most powerful we’ve tested, plus it has a sublime 18-inch Mini LED that’s top of its class, a solid port selection and a snappy keyboard and trackpad to boot. You will wince at its cost and poor battery life, though. Intriguingly, in spite of being more expensive than either the Alienware 18 Area-51 and Medion Erazer Beast 16 X1 Ultimate (RTX 5090), it’s not as fast marginally in the gaming tests in spite of having identical hardware and has the worst battery life of the three, although arguably makes up for it with a sharp 4K Mini LED screen. Nonetheless, it is a very fast laptop in any case, and it’s a surefire hit if you want a beefy and potent laptop and very deep pockets to afford it. Acer’s Helios 18 features an 18 inch Mini-LED screen, 4 RAM slots, 3 M.3 slots, lots of RGB, and even snap-on mechanical keys. But bigger isn’t always better, there are some serious issues you need to know about before you buy.

The verdict? The Acer Predator Helios 18 AI is a ludicrously powerful, unapologetically large, and surprisingly refined gaming laptop that does everything but make your coffee. If you've got the desk space, the budget, and the need for speed (and RAM), this is the beast to beat. Acer's Predator Helios 18 AI is a weapon of a gaming laptop with jaw-dropping specs and performance but is undeniably far more than any mere gamer needs.

The Acer Predator Helios 18 AI might be better characterized as a state-of-the-art concept rather than an actual consumer product: a showcase for what’s possible in today’s gaming laptops rather than a realistic purchase. But if you must have unparalleled performance and don’t mind sacrificing practical portability, the Predator Helios 18 AI has very few equals. You’ll need some seriously deep pockets, though, and there are plenty of better value alternatives out there.
