Ace Magician T8Pro review: Budget mini PC for office use
The system manufacturer Minipc Union offers a wide range of compact PCs for applications ranging from basic office tasks to budget gaming. The Ace Magician T8Pro is a highly compact mini PC powered by an Intel Celeron N5095. The device also comes with 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD. You can expect to pay around €290 (US$309) for the device, which is a fair price compared with other compact mini computers. There are no other variants available – not that we think it is necessary anyway. What's more, Windows 11 Pro is included in the price.
The mini PC comes packaged in a small box that also contains a 65-watt charger and a VESA bracket for mounting the device on a monitor.
Case
The Ace Magician T8Pro is a very tiny mini PC that only occupies a footprint of roughly 8.7 x 8.7 cm (3.5 x 3.5"). The product is also relatively thin at just 4.35 cm (1.69"). The manufacturer went with a mostly plastic build. The surfaces on the device are fairly smooth and feel good to the touch. Colour-wise, the Ace Magician T8Pro is kept relatively neutral with silver and grey, allowing it to blend in seamlessly on a modern desk. There are no stability issues thanks to its compact design. And the tiny computer is very lightweight at just 209 g (0.46 lb).
Specifications
In spite of the compact design, Minipc Union managed to pack three USB-A ports and three HDMI outputs into the Ace Magician T8Pro. The two port types are each located on one side of the device, and there are two LAN ports on the rear. This means the Ace Magician T8Pro is very well equipped and can hold its own against "larger" devices in our comparison. The T8Pro uses a Realtek 8821CE chip for wireless communication, which offers worse performance than the wireless solutions in the other devices.

Maintenance
The SSD and Wi-Fi module are easily accessible for those who want to upgrade the Ace Magician T8Pro. To open up the device, all you have to do is to remove the four screws on the bottom. However, you should take note of the SSD's form factor, as the device can only accommodate an M.2 SSD with a length of 42 mm. Unlike the SSD and Wi-Fi module, though, the memory isn't upgradable.
Performance
The Intel Celeron N5095 is the only processor option available for the Ace Magician T8Pro. The four native cores have 8 GB of DDR4 RAM at their disposal and offer solid performance for basic office tasks.
Test conditions
We carried out all performance-related tests with the "High Performance" power plan in order to get the best possible results. The only time we used a different power plan was when measuring power consumption and noise levels. Click here to find out more about our test criteria.
Processor
The Ace Magician T8Pro can tap into the power of the Intel Celeron N5095 fairly well. That said, there are competing products that perform better with the same SoC, such as the Geekom MiniAir 11 Special Edition. The performance differential is, however, in the low single-digit percentage range and is therefore negligible. The SoC's short-term power limit (PL2) is around 20 watts, whereas the long-term power limit (PL1) is capped at 15 watts.

The performance of the Intel Celeron N5095 is very well managed under load, as demonstrated by the Cinebench R15 loop test. The results remained consistent throughout all 50 runs of the test. The passively cooled Newsmay AC8 couldn't keep up despite having a faster SoC. Overall, our review unit managed to secure the second spot within the comparison group.
System performance
The Intel Celeron N5059 limits the capability of the Ace Magician T8Pro. Nevertheless, the device does well in everyday use, provided you don't overwhelm its SoC. The Ace Magician was even able to slightly outperform the Geekom MiniAir 11 Special Edition, and the performance gap between the T8Pro and the Newsmay AC8 (with an Intel Pentium Silver N6005) is miniscule.

DPC latency
The Ace Magician T8Pro encountered latency issues as soon as several tabs were open in Edge browser. Playing back our 4K test video further increased the latency. During the video playback, iGPU usage was a smidge above 30 per cent.

Mass storage
The Ace Magician T8Pro is equipped with a 256 GB SSD. The drive only supports SATA speeds and is thus slower than NVMe SSDs. Nonetheless, it is still adequate for the T8Pro's intended purposes. We also didn't notice any performance dips under sustained load. If the 256 GB of storage in the default configuration isn't enough for your needs, you can replace the included SSD with a larger one. Though you should ensure that the new SSD isn't longer than 42 mm (M.2 2242).
You can refer to our storage drive table for more comparisons and benchmark results.

Graphics card and gaming performance
Graphics processing is handled by Intel's UHD Graphics 16 EUs (Jasper Lake). With this iGPU, it's unreasonable to ask the Ace Magician T8Pro to perform complex 3D calculations. Nonetheless, based on our measurements, the T8Pro is ever so slightly better than the Geekom MiniAir 11 Special Edition in terms of graphics performance. That said, our review unit isn't as good as the Newsmay AC8 because the iGPU on the Intel Pentium Silver N6005 has a total of 32 EUs. Whilst you shouldn't expect to play demanding 3D games on the Ace Magician T8Pro, the small office PC should have no issue running simple browser-based and other casual games.

Noise emissions
Due to the low TDP of the Intel Celeron N5095, the cooling system isn't particularly taxed. The computer is almost silent at idle and only produces a small amount of noise under load (not exceeding 30.9 dB(A) according to our measurements).

Power consumption
Most mini PCs have impressively low power consumption, and the Ace Magician T8Pro is no different. Whilst its power usage is substantially lower than the average for this class of device, the other mini PCs in our comparison are even more energy-efficient. Our power monitor showed that the T8Pro drew a maximum of 26.3 watts. Rated at 30 watts, the power adapter is capable of handling this level of power use.

Verdict - Mini PC for basic tasks
The Ace Magician T8Pro offers good performance in a very tiny form factor and is able to handle basic office work. The Intel Celeron N5095 features four native cores that are quickly pushed to their limits when performing challenging tasks. If you are mindful of what the Ace Magician T8Pro is designed to do, you'll find a compact mini PC that is both efficient and extremely quiet. There is 8 GB of RAM onboard, which in our opinion is the minimum amount required for a reasonably functional system. The 256 GB of storage is adequate, and the T8Pro even comes with Windows 11 Pro for less than €300 (US$320).
The device has great build quality even though its chassis is completely made of plastic. Despite its compact design, the Ace Magician T8Pro offers an impressive selection of ports. The mini PC can drive up to three external displays at the same time and features three USB-A ports and two LAN ports. All these are not always a given for a product of this size.
The Ace Magician T8Pro is a compact work computer for basic office applications.
One thing we didn't like about the system is the built-in Wi-Fi module. It unfortunately doesn't support the latest standard and delivered lacklustre performance. A modern Wi-Fi 6E module would have been a more future-proof solution. The Ace Magician T8Pro definitely had a great showing during our review, but the Beelink U59 Mini-S and Geekom MiniAir 11 (both equipped with the same SoC) offer better performance in some aspects as well as much lower DPC latency.
The Ace Magician T8Pro was loaned to Notebookcheck for review purposes.
