AYANEO has just hinted at availability of the Pocket S, its second Android gaming handheld. However, its CEO also recently revealed more information about the Pocket DMG, an Analogue Pocket lookalike that it unveiled last month. While plenty of details remain unknown, Arthur Zhang has now disclosed a Pocket DMG release window.
As expected, the Pocket DMG will not be ready until next year. Currently, AYANEO is targeting between Q1 and Q2 2024, but only 'if everything goes smoothly'. In other words, the company is not ruling out delays, as has been the case with the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2-powered Pocket S. Nonetheless, it appears that the Pocket DMG will run Android, atop of which AYANEO will include its AYASpace app.
Moreover, Zhang stated that the Pocket DMG will have a distinguishing element from other Android retro gaming handhelds and the Analogue Pocket, although he refrained from offering up any other details. Incidentally, Zhang also teased that AYANEO will soon expand its Pocket series with a cheaper option. As quoted by Retro Dodo, AYANEO's CEO remarked the following, presumably ahead of an early 2024 announcement:
we are also preparing another retro handheld with a completely different positioning from DMG. I can only reveal this much for now.
