ASUS has announced a new series of updates for the ROG Ally. Not only has the company confirmed plans to push a BIOS update to the gaming handheld, but it has finalised Armoury Crate SE and MCU improvements that it will roll out separately.

ASUS has published a new round of updates for the ROG Ally, shortly after it began selling cheaper Ryzen Z1-powered versions. As far as we can tell, ASUS is developing Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme variants on the same branch. Thus, all the changes listed below should apply to every ROG Ally.

Arguably, ASUS has bundled more improvements in Armoury Crate SE (ACSE) than anything else. According to the company's changelog, BIOS 330 only optimises overall system stability. Please note that ASUS will begin distributing its new BIOS update on October 12. As always, BIOS 330 will be available through MyASUS.

In comparison, ACSE v1.3.15 and Microcontroller Unit (MCU) 313 introduce calibration modes for the ROG Ally's joysticks and triggers. For reference, ASUS has integrated this within ACSE's Control Mode menu. Additionally, the same updates add an Anti-Deadzone slider, which can be customised in the Control Mode and Game Profile menus. Moreover, ASUS now allows you to update MCU firmware through ACSE rather than MyASUS and has bundled the following bug fixes:

  • Fixed issue where using an external keyboard would cause input delay when gaming
  • Fixed a problem where the ROG XG Mobile would randomly disconnect or not function properly
