AMD powered OneXPlayer 2 Pro set to be refreshed with Ryzen 7 8840U "Hawk Point" APU and up to 64 GB memory
Last year, One-Netbook unveiled the OneXPlayer 2 Pro, equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U APU and detachable controllers. Now, the company has announced plans to upgrade the device with the latest Ryzen 7 8840U "Hawk Point" APU on the 26th of February.
The Ryzen 7 8840U boasts AMD's Zen 4 architecture, featuring 8 cores and 16 threads, coupled with the formidable 780M RDNA 3-based GPU sporting 12 CUs and a 2.7 GHz maximum clock speed for the GPU and a maximum of 5.1 GHz for the CPU. In a recent benchmark test conducted by Cary Golomb, the 8840U showcased impressive performance, notably outperforming Steam Deck's "Van Gogh" APU at 10 watts during gameplay of Batman Arkham Knight. Additionally, Hawk Point exhibits significant enhancements over its predecessor, the 7840U "Phoenix Point" APU, and incorporates a notably faster XDNA NPU.
Beyond its commendable raw performance, the OneXPlayer 2 boasts features characteristic of a high-end handheld device, including a spacious 2.5K 8.4-inch screen, support for up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 memory, and storage options of up to 4 TB of PCIe Gen 4 flash storage. While pricing details have yet to be disclosed; given its impressive specifications, it's anticipated to come with a hefty price tag, similar to its predecessor which is available for a cool $1,299.
