A fireball crossed the sky over Europe, and fragments were found in Germany

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, several thousand people observed a fireball crossing the sky in Europe. Indeed, a bright meteorite was observed in the early evening, and while the spectacle was impressive, allowing to see a fireball enter the atmosphere while causing luminous flashes, fragments were found.
It should be noted that the meteorite entered the Earth's atmosphere at high speed and was visible at a distance of several hundred kilometers. Many videos shared on social media show this event, and it is possible to see bright flashes at certain moments as well as a tail. It was during these flashes of light that the rock fragmented into several pieces.
Some people have collected debris in Germany, and according to Der Spiegel, debris found in Koblenz caused damage to a building:
“This evening at around 7:00 p.m., a burnt-up celestial body struck the roof of a residential building in the Güls district of Koblenz. No one was injured.”
In addition, more than 2,800 reports have been recorded by the International Meteor Organization, and numerous photographs and videos are also available. Regarding the trajectory of this celestial object, it appears that it entered the atmosphere above France, before crossing Luxembourg and disintegrating several kilometers above the city of Bonn in Germany.
