8BitDo Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard now available with UK, DE, FR, and ES layouts, albeit with a higher price tag

Almost a year ago, 8BitDo released the Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard Xbox Edition alongside the Retro R8 Mouse Xbox Edition. While the keyboard has been available for purchase in the US and other regions since then, it only comes with a US layout. That changes now as 8BitDo has announced the keyboard in four new layouts, and they are available to pre-order now ahead of their release in December.

In addition to the US (QWERTY), the 8BitDo Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard Xbox Edition is now available in the UK (QWERTY), DE (QWERTZ), FR (AZERTY), and ES (QWERTY) layouts. The Retro 87 keyboard with an ISO UK layout is priced at £105 on Amazon, which is a little more than the version with a US layout, which has a list price of £99.99 but is currently available for £96.29.

If you wish to purchase the version with a DE (QWERTZ) layout, it is available to pre-order on Amazon.de for €119.99, while the US version is available for €109.24. The price is the same on Amazon France for the Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard with an AZERTY French ISO layout. Unfortunately, Amazon Spain states that the version with a Spanish ISO layout is currently unavailable, so a price is not yet available. Nevertheless, all four layouts will be available on December 12.

Save for the layouts, the features remain the same as those of the version released last year.

The 8BitDo Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard Xbox Edition has a green translucent shell, Kailh Jellyfish X switches, RGB backlit keys with 8 light modes, and double-layered ABS keycaps with matte UV coating. The keyboard also has a hot-swappable PCB, support for n-key rollover, and comes with two wired Super (AB) Buttons.

The 8BitDo Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard Xbox Edition supports Bluetooth, 2.4GHz, and wired connections. It is compatible with devices running Android 9.0 and later, as well as Windows 10 and later, but it isn't compatible with Xbox consoles. Like the Mecha Break edition, the Xbox edition features a 4,000mAh battery capacity, which should provide up to 280 hours of use in 2.4GHz mode and up to 300 hours in Bluetooth mode.
