The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are almost certainly now nearly upon us, and they are thought to come with updated camera humps that look like hybrids between those of the Pixel 10 Pro XL and their own 16 Pro and Pro Max predecessors.
That is a side-effect of Apple's plans for the design change, according to new last-gasp renders posted to X by the legendary leaker Evan Blass.
They suggest that the 2025 iPhones' new camera 'windows' could be used as displays, ones that perfectly engulf the rear cameras (or camera, in the case of the "17 Air") so that the rear-facing screens' contents perfectly blend in with the lenses - unless the user wants to take a main camera selfie, that is.
Other apparent functions for the putative secondary iPhone display include notifications, status tracking and playlist management.
Otherwise, iOS 26 seems to allow them to show wallpapers that match Apple's latest iPhone colorways (the fabled new orange shade included) when idle.
One variant has been left out of the alleged dual display concept fun, and it is, of course, the vanilla 17, reportedly saddled with the unadorned vertical camera pill of its 16-series forebear as it is.
They are, of course, the stuff of mere rumor for the next few hours at least, and may be destined for the subsequent 18 series even if they become a reality in the future in any case.
Then again, a primary camera-integrating display is hardly beyond the realms of possibility right now, as proven by even the entry-level Motorola Razr 2025, now available for as little as $599.99 on Amazon.
