Apple currently only offers silicone protective cases for the iPhone 16 Pro, having long since discontinued leather cases in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. The FineWoven cases that were originally intended as a replacement for leather were discontinued after harsh criticism for their very short durability.
Leaker Majin Bu Official recently published photos (embedded below) which purportedly show authentic copies of the brand-new "TechWoven" protective cases for the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. These will apparently come in brown, black, blue, green and purple. The new material has a rough texture that is said to be significantly more robust than the surface of the FineWoven cases, but also provides a very good grip and prevents slipping when held. Also new are two mounting points for hand straps on the bottom, although matching lanyards must be purchased separately. Alternatively, these openings can also be used to attach the iPhone to a shoulder strap.
As before, the cases support MagSafe, so the iPhone 17 Pro can be wirelessly charged and used with magnetic accessories with the case on. Otherwise, there are few surprises in the design; Apple is opting for a significantly larger cutout for the new camera module, an embossed Apple logo, and a cutout for the camera shutter button, while the other buttons are protected by a cover. These new protective cases are expected to be announced in September, along with the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro (Max).
