Xiaomi has a wide range of surveillance cameras for indoor and outdoor use, both directly and via Amazon. This range is now set to expand even further with the Smart Camera C100. Information on price or availability is not yet available, but the listing on Xiaomi's global website is a fairly sure sign of a planned global launch.
The Xiaomi Smart Camera C100 is a rather slim camera, likely making it a model for indoor use; Xiaomi does not advertise an IP certification. The actual camera is mounted on a stand, which means the camera position can be manually adjusted, but not remotely controlled. The camera can be placed on a table or cabinet, for example, but can also be mounted on a wall or ceiling. The 69 x 69 x 115 millimeter camera weighs around 170 grams and is said to be capable of recording image content in 2,304 x 1,296 resolution using the H.265 codec. Three different video storage options are available: saving to a microSD card, saving to a network-attached storage device (NAS), or storing in the cloud. Wi-Fi 6 is supported, but a wired connection is required for power supply.
A microphone and speaker are installed, allowing communication with people in front of the camera. Echo reduction is also promised. Integration into smart homes is possible, and special features such as person detection and alerting when someone leaves a visually defined area are also advertised. The IR LEDs, operating at 940 nm, are said to be invisible to the naked eye. According to Xiaomi, they can produce color images in low light.
