Xiaomi Redmi K50 leaks with a peculiar camera module, flat edges and a punch-hole camera
Well-known leakers @Shadow_Leak and @yabhishekhd have shared on Twitter an alleged image of a Redmi K50 series device. Embedded below, the image appears to originate from Weibo, although it is unclear which Redmi K50 handset it is supposed to be. Hence, we would recommend treating it with some scepticism, not least because it would represent an entirely new camera design for Xiaomi.
Still, the smartphone resembles the Redmi Note 11 series in some ways, with its flat edges and punch-hole front-facing camera. The round volume buttons remind us of the iPhone 4 too, another oddity for a Xiaomi smartphone. Arguably, the device's camera module is its most unusual aspect, in part because it sits so close to the back panel. Three diagonally arranged lenses in a circular housing only add to the device's unusualness.
Based on recent rumours, Xiaomi will release the Redmi K50 series as at least three models, including a standard version, a Redmi K50 Pro and a Redmi K50 Pro+. A Gaming Edition could be in the offing too though, as we have discussed separately. Additionally, Xiaomi has already confirmed a few Redmi K50 features, such as a CyberEngine haptics motor, a 4,700 mAh battery and 120 W charging. The Redmi K50 series should arrive late next month with several SoC options like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Dimensity 9000.
