The 12.7-inch Teclast Art Pad Pro starts at a price of less than $300, but it has more to offer than just its large form factor. With 256 GB of storage, a gaming-ready MediaTek Helio G99 octacore processor, dual SIM and a 10,000 mAh battery, it packs a punch in terms of features.

Chinese manufacturer Teclast not only specializes in tablets that are in the budget range, but also offer a fairly comprehensive range of features. The same applies to the Teclast Art Pad Pro, a 12.7-inch, Android 15 tablet that sports a 12.7-inch display and a resolution of 2176 x 1600 on an IPS panel. Officially priced at $300, buyers can currently snap it up at Amazon for $240.

Relatively lightweight despite sturdy metal casing

Our review shows that the tablet offers good value for money. The Art Pad Pro is housed in a sturdy and well-crafted metal casing with a matte gray finish. While it doesn't have an IP rating, it proved to be quite robust in our tests and withstood all attempts to dent or twist it.

The 672-gram tablet also houses four high-quality speakers and a card slot that can accommodate a microSD card of up to 1 TB and a nano-SIM card. Alternatively, there's space for two nano-SIM cards which allow the tablet to connect to the 4G mobile network. Mobile network coverage is quite decent with support for the following bands: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 34, 38, 39, 40 and 41.

Solid battery life and DRM Widevine L1

The 60 Hz panel reached a brightness of 335 cd/m² in our tests, making the Art Pad Pro primarily suitable for indoor use. Important information for couch surfers: DRM Widevine L1 is supported, which means that copy-protected web streams from Netflix and other providers can be displayed in high resolution.

The Art Pad Pro's 10,000 mAh battery provides solid battery life. In our Wi-Fi test, the 12.7-inch device lasted around 10 hours, which should be enough for a day of entertainment. The included 30-watt power adapter fully recharges the tablet in around 2 hours.

Stylus included but update timeframe is unclear

A stylus pen is also included in the scope of delivery, which is well suited to drawing with its 4096 pressure levels. However, the IPS panel proved didn't prove to be so color-accurate as we had hoped. Another major drawback is the update supply, as Teclast does not promise anything more than an update to a 90 Hz refresh rate.
