OnePlus will continue to offer up to 12 GB of RAM on its premium smartphones, according to a new report. Both the OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9 will be purchasable through T-Mobile in the US, too.

OnePlus has been offering 12 GB of RAM on its Pro smartphones for two years now, or for three-generations if you count the OnePlus 7T Pro. Initially, OnePlus matched the likes of Samsung, which sold the Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy Note 10 Plus with up to 12 GB of RAM too. Samsung then moved to 16 GB of RAM with the Galaxy S20 Ultra though, and continues to offer 16 GB of RAM with the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

However, OnePlus has no plans to match Samsung in this regard with the OnePlus 9 series. According to Max Weinbach, 12 GB of RAM will be the maximum volume in which OnePlus will sell the OnePlus 9 Pro. While 12 GB of RAM remains more than enough to run Android smoothly on a 120 Hz display, opting for less RAM than your competitors feels at odds with OnePlus' 'Never Settle' mantra.

OnePlus is expected to announce the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro next month. Weinbach adds that T-Mobile will carry both devices in the US. Currently, the company sells the Nord N10 5G, Nord N100, OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8T and the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren.
