TCL has launched the QM8K series QD-Mini LED 4K smart TVs in the US. It arrives as a successor to the 2024 QM851G and is available in four sizes: 65”, 75”, 85” and 98”.
The TCL QM8K TV has a 4K resolution and a 144Hz native refresh rate. It uses the brand's new Halo Control System for improved color and grayscale accuracy and limited blooming. The new CrystGlow WHVA anti-reflective panel is said to deliver a high contrast ratio, with up to 3,800 local dimming zones and up to 5,000 nits HDR brightness; according to TCL, that makes it 65% brighter with 35% more dimming zones than the QM851G.
The QM8K has IMAX Enhanced certification and compatibility with Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ and HLG. It is one of the brand’s first TVs to support Filmmaker Mode and also offers Motion Rate 480 thanks to MEMC frame insertion. For gaming, there is Game Accelerator 288Hz, Auto Game Mode with ALLM, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. Consoles or other devices can be connected via ports including four HDMI (one eARC), USB 3.0 and Ethernet.
You can wirelessly connect to the QM8K via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi 6, and it uses the Google TV Smart OS. This allows you to use voice assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant and wirelessly screenshare using Google Chromecast or Apple AirPlay 2. Other new features include an art mode with an accompanying art gallery, helping the TV to blend into the room when not in use, and a backlit remote. Plus, there are built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers compatible with Dolby Atmos and. DTS Virtual:X. TCL describes this TV as ultra-slim, with a flatter body and height-adjustable pedestal stand.
