The Switch 2 has broken several records and become the most popular console at launch for Nintendo. However, it has not been free of its share of problems and criticism. Alongside the recent battery swelling reports come Joy-Con related issues, as pointed out by some users on Reddit. However, this time, it doesn’t seem to be a stick drift issue that plagues the original Switch Joy-Cons.
User IcyBoi23 shared a video (attached below) on the NintendoSwitch2 subreddit showing the left Joy-Con acting strangely. The left stick seems to be stuck in the down direction, not physically, but in terms of input. Furthermore, even when attached to the handheld, it doesn’t show up as attached in the controller settings. The video shows the controller to be fully charged so it doesn’t seem to be a weird low battery issue.
The user tried restarting the console but to no avail. They had the Switch 2 docked all day so everything was fully charged when they got back to it. Moreover, detaching the Joy-Con 2s and putting them in the charging grip did not solve the issue either.
Some users have pointed out that this doesn’t look like a stick drift issue and that calibrating the controller might help. Others suggested restarting the handheld via the settings menu. A few comments pointed out that while detaching the left Joy-Con 2 for the first time, the user lightly touched the left joystick which could have caused it to lock in that input position, and that resetting the console should solve the issue.
The only other option left for the user is to go back to GameStop and have them replace either the Joy-Cons or the entire console. Chances are GameStop will replace the entire console and the user will have to purchase the warranty again.
