Pixel 10 series will be sticking with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor introduced with the last generation but Google has managed to make it even faster and more reliable. The Pixel 10 series is expected to be unveiled in October and bring four phones, including the foldable.

The Google Pixel 10 series has been subject to a lot of leaks recently and the latest is that the fingerprint sensor will receive another upgrade. With the Pixel 9 series, Google added the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which was an upgrade over the Pixel 8 series. Looks like the upcoming Pixel 10 series will be getting several internal and functional improvements rather than external design changes.

The latest leak comes from Android Headlines and it claims that the Pixel 10 series will retain the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor but it will be even faster than before. How exactly Google is managing to do so is a mystery. The report adds that it will be more reliable, especially with wet fingers. It does not go over any more details so this upgrade feels like an obvious one. Facial recognition will be available as well and will continue to be Class 3 level in terms of security.

As per the series of leaks, the Pixel 10 series is shaping up to be a functional improvement over the Pixel 9 (buy on Amazon) series. The design looks a lot like the Pixel 9 series but the new phones are expected to support Qi2 wireless charging. However, they will rely on a case for a magnetic connection to compatible accessories, which is also something Google is said to be working on.

Another recent leak hinted at the addition of a telephoto camera to the base Pixel 10. There will also be improved macro capabilities across the lineup. Among other upgrades, the Pixel 10 series is expected to get improved speakers, more AI capabilities, and heavily improved image stabilization. The phones will be powered by the Tensor G5 SoC which is not as powerful as the Snapdragon flagship in terms of raw horsepower but is sufficiently capable of delivering a smooth user experience and supporting new AI functions.
