Cherrypal, claiming of bringing out the “greenest” mini computers, brings out their first Netbook called "Bing".

The Bing

The Bing

Who on the earth is Cherrypal? Well, first consider this - How does a desktop and a Netbook, both pretty decently configured, together at $399 sounds? Fair enough? Now read on.

Cherrypal is a Mountain view - based company that makes low power, low cost, low profile computers. Founded in 2007, it claims of making energy-efficient, easy-to-use computer that takes advantage of existing web 2.0 technologies. By starting from the ground up, Cherrypal was able to strip out the inefficiencies associated with traditional PCs to produce a small, fast, affordable and energy-efficient computer.

The company’s first product was a tiny desktop computer-the C114. And now CherryPal is launching a mini-laptop called the CherryPal Bing laptop. The CherryPal Bing runs the company’s custom GreenMaraschino Linux operating system which includes Firefox, OpenOffice, media software, and Skype. But the Intel Atom-based netbook is capable of running Windows or probably any other operating system you throw at it. The company is touting the netbook’s “green” capabilities, but the specs doesn't make it look any greener than the Eee PC 1000H, MSI Wind U100, Lenovo IdeaPad S10, or any number of other Atom-based netbooks:

·         CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270

·         RAM: 1GB

·         Storage: 160GB HDD

·         Display: 10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 pixels

·         Connectivity: 802.11b/g  built-in WiFi

·         Expansion: 3 USB ports, SD/MMC/MS card slot

·         Camera: 0.3MP

·         3 USB 2.0; 1 earphone

·         Built-in microphone and dual speakers

The company claims that Bing was designed for environmentally savvy, budget minded consumers, and provides excellent web browsing, file sharing, media and music capabilities.  It can be used with or without the CherrypalCloud, which makes the user experience simple, efficient and highly secure.

You can get the C114 desktop (nettop) and the new Bing laptop (netbook) together at $399. The C114 ships within a few days, the Bing is going to ship in March.
