Atom + 9400M = Ion
Nvidia offer their well performing 9400M chipset in conjunction with the Intel Atom. The combination is called the Ion platform.
Ion Platform = GeForce 9400M + Intel Atom
So finally the rumors were true and Nvidia wants to take a piece of the netbook cake. They just announced the new Ion platform which consists out of the single chip solution 9400M known from the Apple MacBook and the Intel Atom CPU. This new platform should easily outperform the current Intel GMA 950 / 900 / 500 that is found in current netbooks. Furthermore, the 9400M offers HD video acceleration. This could rise the bar for netbook performance, if Nvidia wins some designs and offers a good combined price.
