EviGroup’s Wallet MID whose prototype was unveiled a few months ago was a much sought after device due to the styling it got from the hands of its makers but, the recent revelation of the Wallet MID was quite disappointing because of the fact that it lost its designing cues and got a makeover that was not appealing. The two-tone exterior made it look a bit chunky and not something to look out for this coming year. One thing that it must get full credit for is the placement of the webcam. Now the 5-inch touchscreen device gets a front facing webcam which is quite appreciable. As far as we know there has been no change in the specifications and it retains the 800 x 480 WVGA touchscreen, Android OS, 8GB internal memory, mini SD card slot, WiFi b/g, GPS, along with integrated 3G. This device is expected to debut in January 2010 in Europe with a price tag of £300 i.e. around $440.
On the lines of EviGroup, Dell also plans to launch a MID in the coming year i.e. 2010. This means that we are definitely going to witness some tough competition in the MID domain between EviGroup, Dell, Apple tablet, Archos MID, and the newly launched JooJoo (formerly known as CrunchPad).
According to sources, the device (Dell MID) will have a 5-inch 800x480 touchscreen display, will run on Android OS, and will hit the UK streets early next year. It will have some great connectivity options for users on the go i.e. WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G WWAN, and a 1300mAh battery. Although, images of the upcoming Dell Android MID have been making rounds over the internet (Dell Streak) but, a formal announcement is expected at the CES 2010 which is to be held in Las Vegas. A recent Commercial Times report pointed out that Qisda is readying this new device for Dell. The report also points out that Dell might be interested in subsidizing this new device through AT&T. Well, Dell is keeping mum on the whole issue, but as soon as we get any updates, we will definitely update you.
