Though still a prototype it surely gives a glimpse into the future of MID’s
In this era of Nano Technology the focus is on convergence with devices getting smaller and more powerful with loads of features embedded on a tiny chip. The MID or Mobile Internet Device aims to provide just the right features on a pocket sized device. They are all set to plug the gap between smartphones and netbooks as is evident from NFS-HLJ’s LonMID M100 which is powered by a 800 MHz Intel Atom Z500 processor and has support for a maximum of 1GB DDR2 RAM. The black and gold prototype units measure 6.2" x 3.5" x 1.1" and have a 4.8-inch (800x480) touchscreen with the Midinux operating system. For storage this device has a 4GB solid state drive and for connectivity it has wireless 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR.
On the back of the display we have the handset that features a hardware keypad, a 2.4-inch QVGA display and off-course a SIM card slot. In addition to all that the device also features:
- 2 cameras (front and rear) with a camera shutter button
- Two headphone jacks
- One USB port and two miniUSB ports
- MicroSD card slot
- Volume rocker
- Call buttons (talk and hang up)
- Power port and power switch
- Stylus slot
- QWERTY Keyboard
This device is just an engineering prototype but it surely gives us a sneak peak into what the future has in store for us.
