ASUS recently launched the P30A ultraportable notebook which is just an inch thick and weighs 3.3lbs. It offers a good mix of performance and security features for the business user. At the heart of it lies a 1.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor which is supported by up to 4GB of RAM. The screen is a 13.3-inch, 16:9, LED-backlit display with 1366x768 resolution and an anti-glare coating.

The users have a choice of Operating System they wish to install ranging from Windows Vista Ultimate, Business and Home Premium. There is further a choice between hard disks i.e. the 250GB (5,400RPM & 7,200RPM) or 320GB (5,400RPM & 7,200RPM). ASUS promises a fast recharge for the 4-cell battery to within 90 percent of life in just 90 minutes. Other standard features include a 1.3-megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, Dual layer DVD write, Wi-Fi, a 3G broadband module, and a HDMI port.

This laptop focuses on security and has the following security features:

1. It has a fingerprint reader that requires a login before boot rather than at the Windows prompt.

2. Intel’s security chip tracks and secures data on a stolen laptop.

3. User’s can also remotely wipe data

4. A magnesium alloy chassis with the hard disk free fall sensor.

ASUS hasn’t announced the prices as well as the release dates for the laptop so the consumers would have to just wait a bit longer.
