Starting at 4.99 pounds and designed for consumers who want on-the-go productivity as well as multimedia performance, the Satellite M55 series notebook features include:

-- a 14-inch WXGA diagonal display with TruBrite(TM) technology;

-- a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVD's storage capacity in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats;

-- 5400 rpm hard drive(c) for faster access to stored files;

-- 512MB memory(d);

-- and SRS TruSurround XT technology for a rich, virtual surround sound experience.

The new Satellite M55 series models feature a Mist Gray chassis at retail and additional choices of Peacock Blue and Sunlight Copper from ToshibaDirect (www.toshibadirect.com).

Priced under $1,000, the Satellite M55-S139 value model now includes Toshiba Express Media Player for instant access to CD and DVD playback without booting up the Windows operating system. The unit also features an upgraded Intel Celeron M processor 380, 80GB hard drive and integrated Atheros 802.11b/g wireless.

Priced at $1,449, the Satellite M55-S329 premium model features Intel Centrino Mobile Technology for optimum wireless connectivity with a more powerful Intel Pentium M processor 750. The system also features a 100GB hard drive, iLINK IEEE 1394 port, 5-in-1 bridge media adapter, Toshiba Express Media Player for one-touch CD/DVD playback, and built-in harman/kardon stereo speakers. Both models include Microsoft Windows XP Home. Versions with Microsoft Windows XP Professional are also available from ToshibaDirect.

To help stay connected while traveling for business or leisure, the Satellite M55 line integrates Toshiba ConfigFree software, the company's intuitive graphic connectivity management utility for optimum wireless access.

Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 software is included to enable users to better capture, organize, find and share notes gathered from e-mail, meetings, presentations, classes, the Web and other sources. OneNote captures virtually any type of information - ranging from typed notes to audio - in a single convenient place.

The Satellite M55 series is available with a standard one-year limited warranty. The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may utilize any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service turnaround.

Accessories include the Toshiba Primary High Capacity Li Ion 8-cell battery pack (12-cell for the Satellite M55-S329), Toshiba Executive SlimLine Case, Toshiba USB Mini Optical Scroller Mouse, and Toshiba Keyboard Protector.
