Smartbook AG rolls out the Logo ultra-thin notebook

The 3G CULV laptop will make its debut at CeBIT in March 2010

Overview

The German company Smartbook AG will reportedly launch its new laptop at the CeBIT in Hannover, Germany in early March. The Smartbook Logo sports a consumer ultra-low voltage CPU and 3G connectivity.

It might get a little confusing now. Despite the fact that the Smartbook Logo has all the qualities of a “smartbook” (light and thin, long battery life, 3G etc.), it is not. According to the manufacturer it’s an ultra-thin portable CULV computer.

Even more interesting is that this very company has succeeded in banning Qualcomm from using the term “smartbook” in Germany for their line of Lenovo notebooks.

Configuration

The Logo is equipped with an 11.6-inch display, which has a maximum resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels and is powered by an Intel CULV central processing unit. Furthermore, the thin and light portable computer houses 1GB of internal RAM and a 250GB rotating hard drive.

Connectivity

The information surrounding this upcoming ultra-thin laptop is quite scarce at the moment, but what is known for sure is that it will sport a 3G UMTS modem and an HDMI interface.

Other specs and Pricing

The Smartbook Logo will allegedly come with a pre-installed copy of Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. In addition, the manufacturer promises a battery life of 8 hours and weight of just 1.3kg (2.86lbs).

Reportedly, the 3G CULV notebook will sell in Europe for €699 (US $943/ £624).
