The Ferrari themed, red netbook can be pre-ordered for $599.99

Acer's Ferrari themed netbook, the Acer Ferrari One FO200 is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com, for $599.99 including shipping. The netbook's appearance is garish, as one would expect any machine to be, if it had a bright red and glossy finish. Despite appearances, the netbook scored quite well in reviews and it was given 84% in our recent review. The Ferrari One is powered by an AMD Athlon X2 L310 1.3GHz @ 1.2GHz processor, 4GB DDR2 of system memory and an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics adapter.

Aspects of the netbook that impressed our reviewer included the machine's good battery life (up to 6 hours and 49 minutes), its reasonable operating performance, its light and elegant design, the XGP-port and good display quality. However, our reviewer was disappointed that the Ferrari One did not include an HDMI or DVI output, and that it had an overly-glossy display. Our reviewer also noted that the touchpad and some of the keyboard's keys were too small. For a closer look at the machine, here are the full specifications:-

Readers attracted by the appearance of the netbook should note that the lid and display frame become dirty far too quickly, which is a shame considering that this is the netbook's unique selling point. However, this netbook offers relatively good value for money; although our reviewer recommends Acer's 1810TZ subnotebook, should better battery life and lower noise and heat emissions be a requirement. The intended appeal of this netbook is the design and potential buyers who choose this netbook based on appearance alone, will end up with a high performing netbook that they think looks good.
