MSI unveils the GE700 high-performance notebook

The new device sports two cinema-class speakers and a built-in subwoofer

The Taiwan-based computer manufacturer, MSI, has added a new member to its high-performance G Series. Featuring an overall appealing design, HD audio and video support, the GE700 is targeted towards gaming and multimedia enthusiasts.

Configuration

MSI’s new notebook is powered by a 2010 Intel Core i5 central processing unit with Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading technologies. The latter allows you to simultaneously execute and run several applications without jeopardizing the stability of the system. Furthermore, the Intel HM55 Chipset-sporting GE700 is equipped with a 17.3-inch TFT-LCD display, which has a maximum resolution of 1680-by-1050 pixels. In addition, customers can take advantage of the integrated ATI Radeon HD 5730 (Shader 5.0) graphics controller with DirectX 11 support and 1GB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM. 

The MSI GE700 houses up to 4GB of 1066MHz internal DDR3 memory and up to two 500GB (1TB) mechanical SATA hard drives. The portable computer will ship with either a Super-Multi DVD Burner or a Blu-Ray optical drive.  

Connectivity

The high-performance laptop features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Ethernet LAN connectivity with Bluetooth available as an option. Moreover, users are provided with four USB 2.0 ports (one is USB/eSATA combo), an HDMI interface, D-Sub and 4-in-1 card reader slot.

 The built-in 720p web camera will enable you to have high-definition video conference calls.

Other specs, Pricing and Availability

The GE700 will ship with a pre-installed copy of Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. MSI promises a weight of approximately 3.2kg (7.05lbs) with a 6-cell battery (up to a 9-cell battery), a keyboard with numeric pad and ECO Engine power management system (5 available modes).

The Cinema Pro Technology is an interesting feature, which lets you switch to Movie Mode and enjoy HD video quality and the SRS Surround Sound. Furthermore, the system comes with two built-in stereo speakers and an integrated subwoofer.
